Potato prices gained 1.12% to Rs 881 per quintal in futures trading today as traders enlarged their positions on the back of rise in spot market demand against less arrivals from producing region.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March rose by Rs 9.80, or 1.12%, to Rs 881 per quintal, with a business turnover of 548 lots.

Market analysts said besides rising demand in the spot market, limited arrivals from producing region mainly helped potato prices to trade higher at futures market.
