Potato prices surged by Rs 23.50, or 2.37%, to Rs 1,013 per quintal in futures market today on good spot demand.

Less arrivals from producing region further fuelled the uptrend in potato futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, April potato surged by Rs 23.50, or 2.37% to Rs 1013 per quintal in business turnover of 233 lots.

The March potato moved up by Rs 8.50, or 0.94% to Rs 910 per quintal in 230 lots.

Analysts said apart from good demand in the spot market, less arrivals from producing region mainly led to rise in potato prices at futures market.
