PPL sources said the Nepalese tender through Agriculture Inputs Company Ltd, was won in the teeth of stiff competition from several major international DAP suppliers. PPL was now actively exploring exports to Bangladesh in the current year.
PPL, a former public sector unit, was privatised and sold to Zuari Maroc Phosphates, a joint venture company formed by the K K Birla owned Zuari group and OCP group of Morocco.
It improved its operational parameters under new ownership and cut down losses by Rs 170 crore in 2002-03 compared to the previous year.
