The Indian markets are likely to open flat as the SGX Nifty is trading flat at 5910 and most of the Asian markets are trading in the negative.
The Japanese stocks opened to strong gains, bouncing off losses in the previous session, with the ever-weaker yen boosting exporters and with the Bank of Japan possibly to announce new measures to support the financial system later in the day. The Nikkei Stock Average jumped 0.6% to 9,639.
Hong Kong shares fluctuated in choppy early trading as heavyweight HSBC Holdings PLC tracked overnight gains in financials on Wall Street, while local and mainland Chinese property developers broadly declined. The Hang Seng Index fell 0.2% to 24,235.
Apart from Nikkei, Jakarta Composite and KLSE Composite are the only indices in the green.
The stocks to watch for the day are Cairn India, GVK Energy, NTPC,Bharti Airtel and HCL Infosystems.
