The markets are likely to open on a positive note tracking global cues.

Most world markets were shut on account of the new year, even as the U.S. Congress and the White House battled it out for a solution to the impending “fiscal cliff”.

U.S. stocks gained on Monday with the Dow jumping 1.3 per cent to 13,104.

Nasdaq and S&P 500 surged 1-2 per cent each.

In individual stocks, Videocon Group, has completed the entire 1,100 acres land acquisition for its proposed power plant project at Pipavav in Gujarat.
Keep a lookout for Videocon Industries in trades today.

Tata Power, India’s largest private power producer, is in the process of setting up a 12,500-Megawatt (Mw) generation capacity abroad in the next seven years. This may bring the stock into focus.

Budget-carrier SpiceJet has raised Rs 126.5 crore through issue of securities to promoter Kalanithi Maran.
The stock is likely to be in focus in trades today.

Other than that, watch out for auto shares ahead of their monthly sales figures.
