Prices on an uptrend

The stocks of companies engaged in the shipping business have sailed along in the last three months from September to December on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Share price of Chowgule Steam rose from Rs 13.50 on September 1, to today's close of Rs 18.10, up 34.07 per cent on the BSE.

During the same period the stock price of Essar Shipping increased from Rs 20.39 to Rs 29.00, up by roughly 42.22 per cent and Garware Shipping Corporation increased from Rs 23.70 to Rs 28.00. G E Shipping gained from Rs 147.44 to Rs 173.65, up 17.77 per cent.

Share price of Mercator Lines gained from Rs 365.95 to Rs 818.40 up 123.63 per cent, SKS Shipping rose from Rs 29.15 to Rs 52.35 and Shreyas Shipping rose from Rs 18.85 to Rs 38.15 and Scindia Steam Navigation rose from Rs 2.10 to Rs 5.50.

Varun Shipping rose from Rs 18.61 to Rs 32.79 and South East Asia Marine Engineering rose from Rs 65.59 to Rs 84.75. Shipping Corporation rose from Rs 120.35 to Rs 170.55 while India Steamship increased from Rs 11.84 to Rs 12.83.
