The Sensex, after trading in a wide range of 135 points, settled down 67.24 points (or 1.39 per cent) at 4,782.03. Meanwhile, the NSEs S&P CNX Nifty index fell 25.95 points to settle at 1,520.80.
Key old economy stocks, mainly power, cement and metals, led the fall. Select pharma stocks, however, traded firm.
