Stocks of Tata Chemicals hit a 52-week high of Rs 96.20 on Thursday, before closing 6.44 per cent higher at Rs 94.90.
More than 13.58 lakh shares of the company were traded on the BSE.
The scrip of the fertiliser and soda ash major has seen a sharp rise in volumes in the last few trading sessions. Market sources attributed the rise in the Tata Chemicals scrip to strong Q1 results.
For the first quarter ended June 30, 2003, Tata Chemicals registered a 43 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 48.53 crore.
