Railway stocks head south in mid-noon deals

Railway related stocks are facing some selling pressure in mid noon deals. Meanwhile, Rail minister Mamata Banerjee in the Railway Budget has proposed to build up to 700 kilometers of rail track each year. Further, also proposed to set up 2 wagon units with private partners.

Kalindee Rail and Titagarh Wagaons are the major losers down over 6% and 4% respectively.

Shares of railway and logistic stocks are in limelight on the bourses ahead of Budget. Stone India, Texmaco, Titagarh Wagons, Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML), Kernex Micro Systems, Gateway Distripacks and Container Corporations are trading higher by 1-5%, while Kalindee Rail Nirman is trading flat on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The Railway Budget 2011-12 will be tabled in the parliament by railway minister Mamta Banerjee at 12:00 IST today, 25 February 2011.

The industry chambers are seeking greater public-private participation (PPP) in the expansion of railway infrastructure and upgradation of technology.
