Ranbaxy GDR lone gainer

The Instanex Skindia DR Index (ISDI) was down 1.24 per cent to 1,086.26 on Wednesday in morning trades.
 
Among ISDI Global Depository Receipts (GDRs), only one advanced, while six lost ground.
 
The only gainer was Ranbaxy Laboratories which was up 0.41 per cent to $24.60, registering a volume of 19,900 GDRs.
 
Among losers were, Reliance Industries, down 2.91 per cent to $28.74, registering a volume of 244,602 GDRs, Hindalco down 1.75 per cent to $28, a volume of 13,970 GDRs, and Bajaj Auto, down 1.61 per cent to $22.63.
 
The ISDI, which represents the American depositary receipts (ADRs) and GDRs of 15 actively traded scrips remained more or less unchanged at 1,095.22 at the close of the previous day's trading.
 
They were trading at a price-to-earning multiple of 21 (down by 0.03 per cent).
 
Among the ISDI ADR stocks, four advanced and four lost ground and among ISDI GDRs and ADRs, there were eight gainers and seven losers.
 
The gainers were Dr Reddy's Laboratories, up by 2.44 per cent to $32.75, registering a volume of 327,900 ADRs, MTNL up 1.52 per cent to $7.33, a volume of 102,900 ADRs, and VSNL up 0.13 per cent to $7.56, a volume of 61,600 ADRs.
 
Major losers were HDFC Bank, down 6.48 per cent to $30.30, a volume of 131,900 ADRs, followed by Satyam Computer down 4.85 per cent to $26.10 with a volume of 717,800 ADRs and Wipro down 3.97 per cent to $55.70 with volumes of 102,200 ADRs.
 
The GDRs of Hindalco and Reliance rose to $29.63 and $29.52, respectively, against $28.70 and $28.75, previously. Shares in the European markets were also on the uptrend.
 
The FTSE Eurotop 300 index was up 0.6 per cent at 997 points, a few points away from a 17-month high reached last week.
