Ranbaxy, L & T Post Gains

The Instanex Skindia DR Index (ISDI) gained over 1 per cent to 471.80 on Monday compared with the previous close.

Among ISDI global depository receipts, four advanced, two lost ground and one remained unchanged. The gainers were Ranbaxy (up 2.30 per cent to $15.60), Larsen & Toubro (L&T) (up 1.80 per cent to $8.50), ITC (up 0.35 per cent to $14.35) and Hindalco (up 0.19 per cent to $12.98).

Losers were State Bank of India (down 0.34 per cent to $14.85) and Bajaj Auto (down 0.10 per cent to $10.09). Reliance remained unchanged at $11.40.

On May 2, 2003, among ISDI American Depository Receipts, seven advanced and one lost ground. The major gainers were ICICI Bank (up 4.98 per cent to $5.69), MTNL (up 2.37 per cent to $3.89) and Satyam Computer (up 1.92 per cent to $7.95) and the loser was down 0.11 per cent to $18.75.

The ISDI, which represents the ADRs and GDRs of 15 actively traded companies, advanced further by 1.14 per cent to 472.30 on May 2 as against its previous close of 466.95, an Instanex Capital release said.

The ISDI profit-to-earning ratio also firmed up by 1.14 per cent to 9.96 per cent as against 9.85 per cent previously.

Among Indian American depositary receipts (ADRs) and global depository receipts (GDRs), there were 13 gainers, 3 losers and 56 ruled steady.

The ADRs of Satyam Infoway, ICICI Bank and MTNL looked up to $ 4.84, $5.69 and $3.89, respectively, from $4.60, $5.42 and $3.80, previously.

However, the GDRs of Hindalco and ITC eased to $12.98 and $14.30, respectively, from $13.10 and $14.40, previously.
