Refined oil prices rose by Rs 5.40 to Rs 629.40 per 10 kg today, as traders enlarged their positions in tandem with a firming trend in spot markets due to ongoing marriage season demand.
Fall in supplies from overseas markets also supported the rise in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in January month rose by Rs 5.40 or 0.86 per cent to Rs 629.40 per 10 kg, with trading volume of 82 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in February surged by Rs 4.15 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 643.20 per 10 kg in 21 lots.
Analysts said increased buying by speculators on rising demand in the spot market for the ongoing marriage season, led to a rise in refined soya oil prices in futures trade.
