The Instanex Skindia DR Index (ISDI) fell 0.02 per cent to 621.08 on July 07, 2003 as compared to the previous close at 5:00 PM IST.
Among ISDI global depository receipts, five advanced and two lost ground. The gainers included BSES (up 4.54 per cent to $18.90), L&T (up 2.71 per cent to $11) and Bajaj Auto (up 2.46 per cent to $12.50). The losers were Reliance (down 4.10 per cent to $14.75) and Ranbaxy (down 2.51 per cent to $19.79).
The US markets were closed on July 4, 2003. Meanwhile, Asian market indices managed impressive gains, even though the US markets were not there to give them direction. Taiwan, Hong Kong and Tokyo recorded the maximum gains among the Asian markets.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 average gained 2.59 per cent to 9795.16, which is its highest close since August 27 last year. Last week the index had gained around 5 per cent.
The broader Topix index rose 1.94 per cent to 967.04, which is also the highest since August 26 last year. Tech and automobile stocks were unusually strong. Banks were also big gainers.
