Retail investors got a third of shares in IPOs

Retail investors subscribed to 31.3 per cent of the equity shares offered in 61 public issues, fractionally behind foreign financial institutions' (FIIs) subscription of 32.6 per cent shares.
 
The 61 public offers mobilised Rs 21,218 crore this year, of which retail investors contributed Rs 6,321 crore while FIIs put in Rs 6,916 crore.
 
The qualified institutional bidders (QIB) "� mutual fund and financial institutions "� subscribed to 18.6 per cent shares valued at Rs 3,956 crore while non-institutional bidders, including high net worth individuals, subscribed to 19 per cent shares valued at Rs 4,025 crore.

A total of Rs 21,218 crore worth of investment in 61 public offers appreciated by 28.8 per cent to Rs 27,395 crore post listings, till date. Investors, however, lost money in 11 public offers valued at Rs 280 crore.
 
FIIs investments of Rs 6,916 crore appreciated by 28.5 per cent or by Rs 2,003 crore to Rs 8,919 crore.
 
The market value of retail investors rose 30.9 per cent or Rs 1,975 crore to Rs 8,295 crore while for others it gained Rs 2,185 crore (27.4 per cent) to Rs 7,981 crore.
 
The 61 public offers met with resounding success in the capital market with an average subscription of 16.98 times of the offers. The 61 companies offered 1,613 million shares and received subscription for 33,152 million shares.
 
Of the total offers for 1,613 million shares, QIB offers were subscribed by 28.12 times, retail offers by 6.19 times and non institutional offers by 41.9 times.
 
In value term, the 61 public offers received Rs 360,177 crore worth subscription against the offer size of Rs 21,218 crore worth shares.
 
QIBs, which were allowed to pay subscriptions money after allotment of shares (now they have to pay 10 per cent margin money), proposed to buy 19,941 million shares valued at Rs 2,24,554 crore.
 
Retail investors put in application for 4,223 million shares valued at Rs 32,861 crore while other bidders proposed to buy 8,988 million shares valued at Rs 102,762 crore.
