Basmati rice and bajra rose up to Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on pick-up in demand amidst low arrivals.

However, wheat dara weakened due to reduced offtake by flour mills against adequate supply. Traders said pick-up in demand against limited arrivals mainly pushed up basmati and bajra prices.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals of new crop amid reduced offtake by flour mills helped wheat dara prices to decline.

In the national capital, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4,050-4,750 per quintal. Bajra also moved up by Rs 20 to Rs 1,070-1,080 per quintal.

On the other hand, wheat dara (for mills) declined by Rs 10 to Rs 1,180-1,185 per quintal.

Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,185-1,190 per 90 kg, while atta flour mills and sooji shed Rs 5 and Rs 10 to Rs 635-755 and Rs 730-750 per 50 kg, respectively.
