Robust demand lifts copra prices

Copra prices rose at the spices market here today on fresh buying by stockists and retailers, coupled with strong export demand.

Apart from increased demand, restricted arrivals from producing belts too aided the uptrend in copra prices, traders said.  

Copra Rajapur Mumbai went up by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 7,600 from overnight closing level of Rs 7,500.

Copra edible Mumbai and copra office Alapuzha both firmed up by Rs 50 per quintal each to Rs 6,400 and Rs 5,600, respectively, as compred to Rs 6,350 and Rs 5,600 yesterday. 

Copra office Kozhikode also moved up by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 5,500 from Rs 5,475 yesterday. Meanwhile, rest of the spices maintained a stable trend in the absence of necessary buying support.
