I believe that the Budget has turned India into a tax haven. Taxpayers will now be forced to adopt a strategy that I have been advocating since capital gains indexation was introduced by FA92.
I said there was a legal way to avoid paying tax but people went in for tax-free dividends from mutual funds when they should have been buying the pure-growth schemes that attract capital gains tax.
