Select base metal prices declined by up to Rs 3 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on fall in demand from consuming industries at prevailing levels amid a weakening global trend.
Traders said fall in demand from consuming industries and reports of a weakening global trend mainly led to the decline in select base metal prices.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery declined by 0.8% to $9,011.75 and nickel shed 0.6% to $21,753 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were down by Rs 2 each to Rs 502, Rs 525 and Rs 485 per kg, respectively.
Nickel (4x4) followed suit and shed Rs 3 to Rs 1,055-1,057 per kg.
Lead ingot and lead imported also traded lower by rupee one each to Rs 140 and Rs 143 per kg, respectively.
