Select base metals recover on global cues

Buoyed by a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange, select base metals regained strength to traded higher by up to Rs 4 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today.

Besides, pick-up in demand from consuming industries also influenced base metals prices. Traders said firming trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange, helped select base metal prices to recover at the spot market here. 

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap recovered by Rs 3 each to Rs 504, Rs 527 and Rs 487 per kg, respectively.

Nickel plate 4x4 prices rose by Rs 4 to Rs 1,049-1,051 per kg, while zinc ingot gained Re one to Rs 129.50 per kg.

Meanwhile, copper and nickel moved up by 0.50% each to $9,565.50 and $23,485 per tonne, respectively, at the London Metal Exchange.
