Select base metals strengthen on global cues

Select base metals strengthened by up to Rs 2 per kg in the local metal market today on sustained buying by stockists amid a firming global trend. 

Buying activity in select base metals picked-up as copper gained in London after the dollar weakened. Meanwhile, copper for delivery for three-month delivery gained 0.5% to $9,674 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. 

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap remained in demand and added another Rs 2 each to Rs 506, Rs 529 and Rs 489 per kg, respectively. 

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were also enquired higher by a rupee each to Rs 131.50, Rs 143 and Rs 146 per kg, respectively.
