Select base metals up on global cues

Copper and nickel strengthened up to Rs 10 per kg on the local non-ferrous metal market today, mostly supported by firming trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME), amid pick-up in industrial demand.

Sentiments turned better after copper and other base metals strengthened at the LME on fading fears of China tightening monetary policy, triggering demand, traders said.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap,copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap gained another Rs 5 each at Rs 485, Rs 508 and Rs 469 per kg, respectively. 

Nickel traded Rs 10 higher at Rs 1,030-1,032 per kg on global trend and pick-up in demand from alloy makers.
