Select copra declines on lower demand

Copra Kozhikode and copra Alapuzha both declined further at the spices market here today on subdued retail offtake coupled with reduced demand from millers.  

Copra office Kozhikode dipped by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 6,300 from overnight closing level of Rs 6,450 and copra office Alapuzha fell by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 6,500 as against Rs 6,550 yesterday.

Meanwhile, rest all other spices closed stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying activity.

The following are today's closing rates for various spices in rupees, with the previous rate given in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 302/321 (302/321), ginger bleached (per kg) 165 (165), ginger unbleached (per kg) 180 (180), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,500 (6,550)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,300 (6,450), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,600 (9,600) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,800 (7,800)
