Select copra rallies on robust demand

Copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode prices rallied further at the spices market here today on growing demand from stockists and bulk traders amid higher offtake from millers.

Copra Rajapur also rose owing to renewed retail buying.

Copra office Alapuzha hardened by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 6,450 from overnight closing level of Rs 6,300 and copra office Kozhikode spurted by Rs 125 per quintal to Rs 6,375 as against Rs 6,250 previously.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 8,400 from Rs 8,300 yesterday.

Rest of the spices closed stable in the absence of necessary buying support.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Black pepper (per kg) 235/249 (235/249), ginger bleached (per kg) 230 (230), ginger unbleached (per kg) 245 (245), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,450 (6,300)

Copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,375 (6,250), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,400 (8,300) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,400 (7,400)
