Select copra rises on increased demand

Copra Rajapur prices hardened further at the spices market here today on sustained buying by stockists and retailers amid poor arrivals from producing belts. Elewhere, copra edible and copra Alapuzha also firmed up owing to increased offtake from consumers.

Meanwhile, other spices ruled steady in absence of market moving factors.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai gained another Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 5,500 from overnight closing level of Rs 5,400. Copra edible Mumbai rose by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 4,350 from Rs 4,300 and copra office Alapuzha moved up by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 3,650 as against Rs 3,625 previously.

The following are today's closing rates in rupees, with previous rates in brackets:  

Black Pepper (per kilo) 170/188 (170/188), ginger bleached (per kilo) 180 (180), ginger unbleached (per kilo) 200 (200), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 3650 (3625)

Copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 3450 (3450), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 5500 (5400) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 4350 (4300)
