Select copra spurts on high demand

Copra Rajapur and copra Alapuzha prices rose at the spices market here today due to good demand from stockists and retailers amidst better offtake from millers.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai and copra office Alapuzha went up by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 8,300 and Rs 6,400 from last weekend's closing level of Rs 8,200 and Rs 6,300.

Meanwhile, other spices closed stable in the absence of necessary buying support.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 235/249 (235/249), ginger bleached (per kg) 220 (220), ginger unbleached (per kg) 240 (240), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,400 (6,300)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,200 (6,200), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,300 (8,200) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,700 (7,700)
