Select edible oil prices fell by up to Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today largely on weakening global trend.
Trading sentiments turned bearish as palm oil dropped in global markets, after cooking oil stockpiles in Malaysia surged to the highest level in 16 months on increased production. Meanwhile, palm oil for the August-delivery contract fell 1.2% to $1,052 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils declined by Rs 20 each to Rs 6,280 and Rs 5,880, respectively, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) lost Rs 50 to Rs 5,250 per quintal.
Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils also traded lower by Rs 30 each to Rs 5,800 and Rs 5,500 per quintal.
