Select edible oil prices recovered by up to Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on emergence of buying by vanaspati millers to meet the ongoing festivals demand amid a firming global trend.

Trading sentiments turned better as palm oil gained in global markets after President Barack Obama said lawmakers have reached an agreement to raise US debt ceiling.

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for the October contract advanced by 0.8% to $1,060 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange. In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,500 and Rs 6,000, respectively.

Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (kandla) oils traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,930 and Rs 5,630 per quintal, respectively. Crude palm oil (ex-kandla) also moved up by Rs 40 to Rs 5,250 per quintal.
