Select edible oils up on millers buying

Select edible oils rose in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on sustained buying by vanaspati millers to meet the ongoing marriage season demand, amid firming global trend.

Castor and linseed oils in the non-edible section, also moved up on increased industrial offtake.

Marketmen said increased buying by vanaspati millers to meet the ongoing marriage season demand amid firming global trend mainly led to the rise in select edible oil prices.

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for April-delivery rose 0.8 per cent to $1,215 a metric tonne in Kuala Lumpur.

In the national capital, palmolein (rbd) and crude palm oil (ex-kandla) oils rose by Rs 30 and Rs 20 to Rs 6,250 and Rs 5,370 per quintal.

Cottonseed mill delivery oil (Haryana) oil gained Rs 20 to Rs 5,740 per quintal. Coconut oil too traded higher by Rs 60 to Rs 1,500-1,560 per tin.

In the non-edible section, castor oil and linseed oils went up by Rs 50 each to Rs 8,700-8,800 and Rs 4,650 per quintal.
