Shares of select information technology (IT) were trading higher by up to 11% in an otherwise subdued market.
Intellect Design Arena, Zensar Technologies, NIIT Technologies, Lycos Internet, Intrasoft Technologies, Geometric, Take Solutions and NIIT were up between 5%-11% on the BSE. Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Mphasis were up 1% each as compared to 0.13% decline in the S&P BSE Sensex.
At 01:47 p.m. S&P BSE IT index, the largest gainer among sectoral indices was up 0.76% at 10,818 after hitting an intra-day high of 10,855 on the BSE.
Intellect Design Arena and Intrasoft Technologies have rallied 11% each to Rs 233 and Rs 290 respectively, while Geometric (Rs 162) and Zensar Technologies (Rs 908) were up 9% each on the BSE.
NIIT Technologies surged 7% to Rs 475 after the company said it has been identified as a ‘Leader’ in ‘Digital Transformation Services NEAT’ (Digital Focus market segment) by NelsonHall, the leading global BPO and IT outsourcing firm.
NIIT rallied 6% to Rs 83.30, extending its previous day’s 4% gain on the BSE, after the company reported over seven-fold jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 13.7 crore for the December quarter against Rs 1.8 crore in the year-ago period.
