Select edible oil prices drifted up to Rs 50 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseed market today on fall in demand at existing higher levels amid weakening global trend.
However, in the non-edible section castor oil showed some strength on industrial demand and improved.
Marketmen said fall in demand at prevailing levels and weakening global trend led to a fall in the wholesale edible oil prices.
Meanwhile, palm oil futures for October delivery dropped 0.7 per cent to $811 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the edible section, mustard oil declined by Rs 50 to Rs 5,250 per quintal on reduced offtake by local parties.
Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Delhi) also traded lower by Rs 50 and Rs 20 to Rs 4,830 and Rs 4,600, while palmolein (rbd) lost Rs 20 to Rs 4,650 per quintal on weakening global trend.

In the non-edible section, castor oil rose by Rs 50 to Rs 7,700-7,800 per quintal on increased industrial offtake.
