Select spices fall on increased supply

Select spices drifted on the wholesale kirana market today on increased arrivals from the producing region, amid reduced offtake by stockists and retailers.  

Traders said increased arrivals in the face of reduced offtake by stockists and retailers, pulled down select wholesale spice prices. 

Cardamom brown (Jhundiwali) and (Kanchicut)eased to Rs 1,060-1,070 and Rs 1,175-1,350 against last close of Rs 1,110-1,125 and Rs 1,210-1,360 per kg, respectively.  

Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra-bold were traded lower at Rs 1,150- 1,230, Rs 1,200-1,220, Rs 1,230-1,240 and Rs 1,350-1,370 as compared to previous levels of Rs 1,310-1,360, Rs 1,370-1,400, Rs 1,400-1,420 and Rs 1,500-1,520 per kg, respectively.    

Turmeric also dropped by Rs 500 to Rs 16,600-18,600 per quintal on increased arrivals.  

Mace red and yellow too traded in negative zone at Rs 1,780-1,950 and Rs 1,650-1,850 against last close of Rs 1,800-1,950 and Rs 1,800-1,950 per kg, respectively.
