Select spices fall on sluggish demand

Copra Kozhikode prices slipped further at the spices market here today owing to reduced buying from stockists and retailers.

Elsewhere, black pepper also moved down on lower domestic as well as export demand amidst higher arrivals.

Copra office Kozhikode lost by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 6,900 from Monday's closing level of Rs 6,950 and black pepper declined by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 253/270 as compared to Rs 258/270 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 258/270 (253/270), ginger bleached (per kg) 160 (160), ginger unbleached (per kg) 190 (190), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,050 (7,050)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,900 (6,950), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,500 (8,500) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 8,000 (8,000)
