Supported by the ongoing marriage season demand, prices of select spices strengthened up to Rs 500 per quintal on the wholesale kirana market today.
Besides, restricted supplies from producing regions also influenced prices.
Traders said increased buying by stockists and retailers, powered by the ongoing marriage season demand attributed rise in the prices.
They said limited arrivals from producing regions were also responsible for the rise in wholesale select spices.
In the national capital, jeera common and best quality maintained their upward march for the third straight day by adding Rs 500 each to Rs 15,000-15,200 and Rs 17,100-17,400 per quintal respectively.
Ajwain followed suit and gained Rs 500 to Rs 13,000-20,500 per quintal.
