Shares of nine out of 14 companies included in the future and options (F&O) segment with effect from today were trading higher by up to 6% each on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Page Industries (up 6% at Rs 16,095), Ceat (4.8% at Rs 791), Kaveri Seed Company (4% at Rs 928), SRF (3.5% at Rs 1,046), Ajanta Pharma (3% at Rs 1,493), Castrol India (2.6% at Rs 484), Amara Raja Batteries (2.4% at Rs 885), Pidilite Industries (2% at Rs 564) and Bajaj Finance (2% at Rs 4,519) were trading higher between 2% and 6% each on the NSE.

“The new contracts of these fourteen companies will be available for trading in the F&O segment from May 29, 2015,” NSE had said in circular dated May 28, 2015.

When a stock moves into the F&O segment, it helps investors create short or long positions and initiate a hedging mechanism.

Typically, stocks entering the F&O segment gain ground due to improved liquidity and absence of circuit filters in the F&O segment.
