Selective buying at coffee auction

The weekly Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) coffee auction held on 28 September had witnessed selective domestic buying.

According to auctioneers Caritt Moran and Company, there was poor interest in Arabica Plantation and Robusta Cherry grades and their prices reflected last week's levels.

Of the 319 metric tonne offered for sale (last week 444 tonne), 80 tonne were sold (last week 133 tonne). Of the stock on sale, Arabica comprised 202 tonne (last week 266 tonne) and Robusta 117 tonne (last week 178 tonne).

Following are the prices quoted for grades in Rs 50 per kg. Arabica varities: Arabica Parchment PB Rs 4534 (quantity sold 3864 kgs), Arabica Parchment AB Rs 4552 (5635 kg), Arabica Parchment A Rs 4450 (2115 kg), Arabica Parchment B Rs 4050 (1402 kg), Arabica Parchment C Rs 3900 (500 kg), Arabica Parchment BBB Rs 3000 (2464 kg).

Robusta varities: Robusta Parchment C Rs 2575 (1160 kg), Robusta Parchment BBB Rs 2400 (713 kg), Robusta Cherry PB Rs 2395 (7071 kg), Robusta Cherry AA Rs 2500 (194 kg), Robusta Cherry AB Rs 2476 (5519 kg), Robusta Cherry C Rs 2300 (20254 kg), Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 2200 (182 kg).
