After resuming marginally higher at 7,307, the Sensex soon dipped below the 7,300-mark to a low of 7,273.The market rebounded into the green soon, and made strong gains in select stocks till mid-noon trades. The sentiment received a further boost towards the closing bell as relentless, across-the-board buying propelled the Sensex to a new, all-time intra-day high of 7,430 - a gain of 157 points over the day's low.The Sensex finally closed with a gain of 119 points (1.6%) at 7,423.While 26 Sensex stocks advanced, four declined today. Advancing shares accounted for a volume of 1.19 crore amounting to Rs 639.46 crore and declining shares registered a volume of three lakh for Rs 19.85 crore.All the sectoral indices closed with gains today. The BSE Bankex advanced 2.5% (106 points) to 4,316. The BSE Teck Index moved up 1.9% (35 points) to 1,916. The BSE Oil & Gas Index was up 1.5% (52 points) at 3,494.The broad market was bullish - out of 2,603 scrips traded, 1,702 advanced, 834 declined and 67 were unchanged today. Reliance moved up 1.61% (Rs 11) to Rs 690. ONGC advanced 1.90% (Rs 17) to Rs 935, and Reliance Energy gained 1.71% (Rs 11) to Rs 646. HLL was up 2% (Rs 3) at Rs 162.ICICI Bank jumped 3.79% (Rs 17) to Rs 455. While SBI added 1.65% (Rs 12) to Rs 721, HDFC Bank was up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 649.Satyam advanced 4.16% (Rs 21) to Rs 533. While Infosys logged 1.19% gains (Rs 26) to Rs 2,236, TCS and Wipro ended with steady gains at Rs 1,294 and Rs 715, respectively.BHEL soared 5.33% (Rs 50) to Rs 991. Bharti darted up 5.17% (Rs 13) to Rs 267, and Tisco was up 2.52% (Rs 9) at Rs 379.ACC gained 1.71% (Rs 7) to Rs 444, and Gujarat Ambuja was up a notch at Rs 62. Grasim, however, ended weak at Rs 1,155.Tata Motors rose 2.20% (Rs 10) to Rs 471, and Hero Honda gained 1.49% (Rs 9) to Rs 616. Bajaj, however, slipped a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 1,373. Maruti also ended on a lacklustre note at Rs 462.Banking scrips firmed up today. BoB jumped 6.46% (Rs 15) to Rs 242. While Canara Bank gained 3.82% to Rs 240, BoI was up 3.75% at Rs 120. Andhra Bank, OBC, PNB, Vijaya Bank and Union Bank of India were up in the range of 2-4%.Mumbai mill land sales at record prices yesterday saw Bombay Dyeing gain nearly 10% to Rs 372.Zigma Software topped the volume chart with trades in over 2.97 crore shares followed by IKF Technology (1.23 crore), Moschip Semiconductors (1.08 crore) and Tata Teleservices (95 lakh).Satyam was the most active counter with a turnover of over Rs 145 crore followed by Reliance (Rs 93 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 77 crore) and Infosys (Rs 57 crore).
