Dr.Reddy's moved up 2.6% to Rs 1,021. Hindalco spurted 1% to Rs 149.
Banking stocks witnessed agressive buying today. Syndicate Bank zoomed nearly 9% to Rs 94. Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Union Bank gained nearly 5% each. Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Canara Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank and UTI Bank also ended with substantial gains. IndusInd Bank, however, was down 3.3% at Rs 59.
JB Chemicals soared over 10% to Rs 115. VisualSoft, Tata Elxsi, India Cement, Gillette India, MphasiS BFL, Sterlite, TVS Motors, Rolta, Birla Corp, Jindal Stainless, MICO and Orchid Chemicals gained in the range of 3-6% each.
FACT declined 3% to Rs 34.55. RCF, Syngenta, Merck, Dabur, SKF India, BASF India, EIH, Escorts, Alok Industries, Ballarpur Industries, Arvind Mills, Century Enka, National Fertilisers, HMT and Tamilnadu Newsprint declined 1-2% each.
Reliance was the most active counter with a turnover of Rs 191.98 crore followed by Satyam (Rs 135.06 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 126.15 crore), Gail (Rs 104.90 crore) and Nestle (Rs 97.72 crore).
Gujarat Ambuja topped the volume chart with trades of around 41.63 lakh shares followed by Gail India (38.86 lakh shares), ITC (36.66 lakh shares), India Cement (26.52 lakh shares) and Reliance (20.66 lakh shares).
