The markets, after a firm opening, is upbeat in mid-morning trades as unabated buying continues in old and new economy stocks. While cement, auto, tech and banking stocks have upped their gains on further buying, select heavyweights are largely trading at their earlier gains. The Sensex is currently above the 6,200 mark at 6,207 - up 104 points. The Nifty has moved up 33 points to 1,947.The market breadth is firm with 1,402 gainers and 566 losers on the BSE so far.Reliance is still up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 524. While ITC has inched up by Rs 4 to Rs 1,273, HLL is up 1.22% (Rs 2) at Rs 141, after a lacklustre opening.Infosys has jumped 3.55% (Rs 68) to Rs 1,971. While Satyam has moved up 2.65% (Rs 9) to Rs 365, Wipro is up 1.82% (Rs 12) at Rs 669.SBI has shot up nearly 3% (Rs 17) to Rs 590. While HDFC Bank has soared 4.69% (Rs 22) to Rs 502, ICICI Bank is up 1.52% (Rs 5) at Rs 350.Bajaj, after a weak opening, has added 1.27% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,094. While Maruti has gained 2.71% (Rs 11) to Rs 424, Tata Motors is up 2% (Rs 10) at Rs 484. Hero Honda at Rs 550 (up Rs 3) is trading with modest gains.Gujarat Ambuja has advanced 3.32% (Rs 13) to Rs 414. While ACC has notched up 2.56% (Rs 9) to Rs 342, Grasim is up a per cent (Rs 11) at Rs 1,256.Hindalco (up Rs 15 or 1.18% to Rs 1,255), Reliance Energy (up Rs 10 or 2% to Rs 507), Tata Power (up Rs 14 or 4% to Rs 353), Tisco (up Rs 10 or 2.80% to Rs 354) and L&T (up Rs 7 to Rs 930) are also exhibiting firm trends. HPCL, however, is down 1.50% (Rs 5) at Rs 359.Banking stocks have scaled up on strong buying support. BoI has jumped 8.73% (Rs 7) to Rs 82. While Vijaya Bank has added 7.82% (Rs 5) to Rs 63, Union Bank has moved up 7.75% (Rs 7) to Rs 101. Indian Overseas Bank at Rs 68 (up Rs 4 or 6%), Syndicate Bank at Rs 54 (up Rs 3 or 5.93%), Allahabad Bank at Rs 68 (up Rs 4 or 5.83%), Andhra Bank at Rs 76 (up Rs 4 or 5.78%), IDBI Bank at Rs 65 (up Rs 3 or 5.61%), BoB at Rs 204 (up Rs 10 or 5.36%), PNB at Rs 372 (up Rs 19 or 5.36%) and Canara Bank at Rs 195 (up Rs 10 or 5.26%) are also trading with steep gains.
