A strong wave of buying support in heavyweights, tech, select banking and other old economy stocks has pushed the index above the 6,700 mark in the afternoon trades. The Sensex, which clocked a high of 6,708, is now up 50 points at 6,706. The Nifty has advanced 17 points to 2,082.Reliance has flared up 2.47% (Rs 13) to Rs 543. ITC and ONGC are up a per cent each at Rs 1,574 (up Rs 14) and Rs 933 (up Rs 9), respectively.Wipro has logged 1.71% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 713, and Infosys has moved up a per cent (Rs 24) to Rs 2,225. Satyam, too, is trading with a per cent gain (Rs 5) at Rs 456.SBI has gained 1.28% (Rs 8) to Rs 664, while HDFC Bank is up a per cent at Rs 543 (Rs 4). ICICI Bank, however, is down a tad at Rs 392.L&T at Rs 1,103 (up Rs 18 or 1.70%), Hindalco at Rs 1,092 (up Rs 13 or 1.20%), Reliance Energy at Rs 525 (up Rs 12 or 2.38%) and Zee at Rs 144 (up Rs 3 or 2.20%) have notched up significant gains.Bajaj has inched lower by a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 1,254. Maruti is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 454.Dr. Reddy's has lost 1.20% (Rs 9) to Rs 727, and Cipla is down a rupee at Rs 288. Ranbaxy, however, is up with a steady gain of Rs 5 at Rs 1,089.
