Sensex back in red; ICICI Bank sheds 5%

The Sensex has slipped back into red and is now down 65 points at 8,970. Earlier in the day, the index opened 96 points lower at 8,939, touched a low of 8,922 in opening trades. The index, thereafter, rebounded into the positive zone and touched a high of 9,100.

ICICI Bank has slumped 4.7% to Rs 368, and HDFC have plunged 4.5% to Rs 1,369. SBI has shed 2.3% at Rs 1,075.

Mahindra & Mahindra has tumbled 2.5% to Rs 291. Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 41 and Rs 248, respectively.

DLF has dropped 1.6% to Rs 145. BHEL, HDFC Bank and ACC are down around 1% each at Rs 1,365, Rs 870 and Rs 540, respectively.

Reliance, however, has gained 1.4% at Rs 1,285. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are up 1% each at Rs 639 and Rs 165, respectively.
