Sensex below 20,000 mark

The markets continue its downward movement and has registered an intra-day low of  19,882 and continues to hover around the same. The Nifty has shed 60 points at 6,002. The broader markets too have slumped equally. The midcap index is down 1% in line with the benchmark index while the smllcap index has shed 0.4%.

All the sectoral indices have moved into the red. Capital Goods, Auto and Teck down 1.5% each are at the bottom of the chart. Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables down 0.08% and 0.1% respectively are the least affected.

SBI and RIL up 0.2% each are the only gainers on the Sensex.

ACC,ICICI Bank down nearly 3%, Jaiprakash Associates, Wipro, HDFC, Bharti Airtel and Tata Motors shedding 2% each are the major losers.

The market breadth is negative. Of the total 2523 stocks traded, 1365 stocks have declined  while 1077 have advanced.
