The Sensex opened a tad (three points) lower at 10,863. After slipping a bit in the opening trades the index rebounded into the positive zone but could only manage to touch a high of 10,870.The index slipped back into the negative zone and touched a low of 10,780. The index finally settled with a loss of 54 points at 10,813.Thanks to ICICI Bank, the BSE Bankex surged 1.8% to 4858. The BSE Auto, Teck and Oil & Gas indices were down around 1% each at 4525, 2640 and 4944, respectively.The Mid-cap and Small-cap indices closed flat at 4359 and 5216, respectively.The market breadth was marginally negative - out of 2,485 stocks traded, 1237 declined, 1,156 advanced and 92 were unchanged today.INDEX MOVERS & SHAKERSICICI Bank soared nearly 4% to Rs 568. BHEL surged 1.7% to Rs 2,186. NTPC and Cipla were up nearly 1% each at Rs 121 and Rs 230, respectively.Wipro and Hero Honda dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 494 and Rs 670, respectively.Satyam, Bharti Airtel and Maruti declined over 2% each to Rs 738, Rs 392 and Rs 769, respectively.Gujarat Ambuja, ONGC and Dr.Reddy's shed 1.7% each to Rs 104, Rs 1,162 and Rs 1,403, respectively.TCS, Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel were down around 1.5% each at Rs 936, Rs 2,210 and Rs 504, respectively.Tata Motors, Reliance, ACC, Hindalco, Bajaj Auto and Grasim were down over 1% each.VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSReliance topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 124.31 crore followed by SBI (Rs 73.19 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs 64.66 crore), Satyam (Rs 55 crore) and Tata Steel (Rs 54.73 crore).G V Films led the volume chart with trades of around 37.82 lakh shares followed by Rain Calcining (30.95 lakh), Balrampur Chini (14 lakh), Aftek Infosys (13.83 lakh) and Reliance (13 lakh).
