Mirroring negative cues from the other Asian markets, the Sensex opened with a negative gap of 93 at 14,852. The index touched a low of 14,778, and is now down 130 points at 14,815.
Tata Motors has tumbled over 4% to Rs 418. Sterlite has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 604.
Ranbaxy has shed 2% at Rs 455. BHEL and ICICI Bank have slipped 1.8% each to Rs 1,758 and Rs 708, respectively.
HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 2,338 and Rs 170, respectively.
ACC and Reliance Communications, however, are up around 1% each at Rs 606 and Rs 402, respectively.
