Sensex down 270pts; Reliance moves up 1%

The Sensex is now down 270 points at 15,234.

The NSE Nifty is down 65 points at 4,555.

Maruti has plunged 5.4% to Rs 677, and Tata Steel has shed 5% at Rs 612.

Infosys and Jaiprakash Associates have tumbled 4% each to Rs 1,605 and Rs 190, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Tata Power have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 743 and Rs 1,040, respectively.

Sterlite and HDFC have slipped over 3% each to Rs 604 and Rs 2,489, respectively. HDFC Bank has declined 2.4% to Rs 1,277.

Bharti Airtel, SBI and Tata Motors are down 2% each to RS 827, Rs 1,559 and Rs 439, respectively.

Reliance, however, is up over 1% at Rs 2,353.

Out of 2,659 stocks traded so far, 1,567 have declined, 1,006 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
