Sensex down 288pts; Jaiprakash slips 5.5%

The NSE Nifty is down 68 points at 4,879.

Ambuja Cements has tumbled 6% to Rs 96. Jaiprakash Associates has plunged 5.5% to Rs 225.

BHEL has slipped over 5% to Rs 1,658, while Reliance Communications has declined 5% to Rs 544.

ICICI Bank has dropped 4.5% to Rs 825. ITC and Grasim have shed 3.7% each to Rs 206 and Rs 2,205, respectively.

Maruti and HDFC have lost 3.6% each to Rs 762 and Rs 2,583, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 1,245, Rs 2,745 and Rs 186, respectively.

HDFC Bank is down 3% at Rs 1342. Tata Motors and Tata Steel are down 2.3% each to Rs 623 and Rs 876, respectively.

Infosys has surged 3.6% to Rs 1,892, and Bharti Airtel has gained 3.1% to Rs 863.

TCS has advanced around 3% to Rs 961.
