The Sensex opened with a huge positive gap of 44 points at 10,337, and moved up to a high of 10,406 in opening deals. Selling commenced soon after, and the pressure intensified by early noon. The index dropped to a low of 10,150 - down 256 from the intra-day high. Buying at lower levels saw the Sensex finally close with a loss of 66 points at 10,227.The sentiment continued to be bearish - out of 2,438 scrips traded, 1,706 declined, 666 advanced and 66 were unchanged today.Infosys moved up 1.5% (Rs 25) to Rs 1,630. While Satyam was up Rs 11 at Rs 694, Wipro gained Rs 8 to Rs 485. TCS, however, was down Rs 18 at Rs 1,842.Reliance slipped 2.6% (Rs 27) to Rs 1,004. SBI was down Rs 5 at Rs 701. ONGC was up Rs 15 at Rs 1,043. Tata Steel dropped over 3% (Rs 16) to Rs 477. BHEL was down 2.5% (Rs 46) at Rs 1,806. L&T dropped 2.7% (Rs 56) to Rs 2,070. Bajaj slipped 1.4% (Rs 34) to Rs 2,487.Hero Honda added Rs 9 to Rs 718. Bharti, Grasim, HLL, HDFC Bank and Ranbaxy finished with gains today.Reliance topped the turnover chart with trades of over Rs 332 crore followed by Reliance Capital (Rs 145 crore), Suzlon (Rs 107 crore) and Hindustan Zinc (Rs 101 crore).
