Recovery in select heavyweights, tech and auto stocks has seen the index erase most of its losses in mid-noon trades. The Sensex is now down seven points at 6,847 as selling is still seen in banking and other select old economy counters. The Nifty, however, has moved back into positive zone with a gain of eight points at 2,162.The breadth of the market, however, is positive with 955 gainers and 891 losers on the BSE.ONGC has moved up 1.42% (Rs 13) to Rs 924.Infosys has reversed its trend into the green with a per cent gain (Rs 17) at Rs 2,231. Wipro (up Rs 3 to Rs 710) and Satyam (up Rs 2 to Rs 417), too, have bounced from their lower levels.Hero Honda has advanced 1.71% (Rs 10) to Rs 574. Tata Motors and Maruti are up a per cent each at Rs 465 (up Rs 3) and Rs 461 (up Rs 3), respectively. Bajaj, however, has slipped further by 1.10% (Rs 12) to Rs 1,106.Reliance is subdued with a loss of Rs 3 at Rs 585. While HLL has inched lower by 1.19% (Rs 2) to Rs 142, ITC has also slipped further by Rs 8 to Rs 1,337.HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are still down a per cent each at Rs 604 (down Rs 5) and Rs 387 (down Rs 3), respectively. SBI, however, is off-lows with a rupee gain at Rs 738.Zee continues to reel under selling pressure and has tumbled nearly 3% (Rs 4) to Rs 136.Tisco is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 444, while Bharti has erased most of its gains on profit-taking and is now up a notch at Rs 226.Metal stocks continue to witness sharp gains. Uttam Galva has soared 15.28% (Rs 10) to Rs 73. While Bhushan Steel has shot up 10% (Rs 19) to Rs 211, Essar Steel has gained 9.91% (Rs 5) to Rs 60. Ispat has surged 7.83% (Rs 2) at Rs 30. Sun Iron & Steel, Mukand and Lloyd steel are trading higher in a range of 4-5%.Select pharma stocks, however, have succumbed to losses. Merck has shed 4.68% (Rs 23) to Rs 470, while Torrent Pharma has lost 3.38% (Rs 15) to Rs 425. Lupin, Elder Pharma, Novartis, Wyeth, Morepen Labs and Dishman Pharma are trading 2-3% lower.Bharti continues to lead the volume chart with over 11.30 cr shares traded on the BSE so far, followed by Tisco (7.16 lakh), Reliance (7.14 lakh) and SBI (5.93 lakh), respectively.
