The Sensex opened with a positive gap of nine points at 8,707, which also turned out to be the low for the day. Sustained buying in tech and auto scrips and Reliance saw the index zoom to a high of 8,809. The Sensex finally closed with a gain of 102 points (1.2%) at 8,800.The sectoral indices also finished with strong gains today. The BSE Teck indez zoomed over 2% (46 points) to 2,211. The BSE Auto Index was up 1.9% (72 points) at 3,793.The BSE SmallCap Index was up 1.5% (88 points) at 5,912. The BSE Bankex, Oil & Gas, Metal, PSU and MidCap indices finished with gains of over 1% each today.The mood continued to be bullish - out of 2,574 scrips traded, 1,780 advanced, 765 declined and 29 were unchanged today.Reliance moved up 1.5% (Rs 12) to Rs 806. While ONGC was up Rs 10 at Rs 1,079, SBI added Rs 12 to Rs 957.Infosys advanced 3% (Rs 76) to Rs 2,629. Wipro zoomed over 5% (Rs 20) to Rs 400. While Satyam was up 2.5% (Rs 14) at Rs 589, TCS declined Rs 8 to Rs 1,489.Auto scrips continued to add gains today. Bajaj moved up over 2% (Rs 42) to Rs 1,810. Tata Motors was up 3% (Rs 16) at Rs 569, and Hero Honda added 2.6% (Rs 19) to Rs 768. Maruti was up Rs 11 at Rs 589. HDFC Bank gained 4.7% (Rs 32) to Rs 710. BHEL zoomed 4% (Rs 50) to Rs 1,295.Dr. Reddy's was firm right through the session, and closed with a gain of over 3% (Rs 29) at Rs 911. L&T moved up Rs 15 to Rs 1,537. ACC, Grasim, Hindalco, Tata Steel and Bharti also finished with gains.Hinduja TMT zoomed 12% (Rs 46) to Rs 435. Engineers India advanced 11% (Rs 66) to Rs 670. Geometric Software, which is set to miss its Q2 targets, dropped 8% to Rs 100.Reliance was the most active counter with a turnover of Rs 153 crore followed by Satyam (Rs 148 crore), HLL (Rs 144 crore), FCS Software (Rs 111 crore) and Reliance Capital (Rs 105 crore).
