After opening with a positive gap of 99 points at 19,690, the Sensex rallied to a high of 19,919 - up 328 points from the previous close - on fresh buying in morning trades.The index, however, could not hold gains and slipped into negative zone by mid-noon trades. Aggressive profit-taking in the market saw the index slip to 19,338 - down 581 points from the day's high.The Sensex finally ended with a loss of 190 points at 19,401.The BSE Bankex dropped 2% to 10,787, and the Capital Goods index declined 1.8% to 19,697. The Auto, Metal and Oil & Gas indices slipped 1% each to 5277, 17,206 and 11,389, respectively.The market breadth was negative - out of 2,783 stocks traded, 1,598 declined, 1,117 advanced and 68 were unchanged today.INDEX SHAKERS...Reliance Communications dropped over 4% to Rs 745. Bharti Airtel slipped 2.5% to Rs 918.Larsen & Toubro declined nearly 4% to Rs 4,126.ICICI Bank, Satyam, Tata Motors, Maruti and Tata Steel slipped over 2% each to Rs 1,241, Rs 453, Rs 723, Rs 973 and Rs 860, respectively.Grasim, Ranbaxy and SBI declined 1.5% each to Rs 3,651, Rs 429 and Rs 2,209, respectively....AND THE MOVERSHindalco soared over 4% to Rs 191. Dr.Reddy's and Bajaj Auto surged 2.5% each to Rs 617 and Rs 2,455, respectively.BHEL gained over 2% at Rs 2,724. ACC and Reliance Energy moved up over 1% each to Rs 1,022 and Rs 1,845, respectively.NTPC, Hindustan Unilever and ITC were also up over 1% each at Rs 240, Rs 195 and Rs 173, respectively.MOST ACTIVE COUNTERSReliance Petroleum topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 1,845.20 crore followed by Reliance Natural Resources (Rs 1,313.70 crore), Reliance Energy (Rs 372.55 crore), Power Grid (Rs 287.80 crore) and HDFC (Rs 211.80 crore).Reliance Petroleum led the volume chart with trades of around 7.62 crore shares followed by Reliance Natural Resources (7.21 crore), Tata Teleservices (1.96 crore), Power Grid (1.82 crore) and Ispat Industries (1.73 crore).
