The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 235 points at 18,728, and soon touched a high of 18,832. However, the index could not hold gains for long and slipped into the negaitve zone to a low of 18,317 - down 515 points from the day's high.The index, thereafter, displayed volatile movement for the remaning part of the trading day. The Sensex finally ended (provisional) with a loss of two points at 18,491.
